Bubbis
McCann-Erickson
A surfer drawn in the rubber hose manner, outline only, noodle limbs and no fill in his body, rides a flat blue sea holding a bubble of gum bigger than he is. The bubble is lettered BUBBIS twice in soft swollen type that bends with its curve, and it works as sail, cargo and logotype at once. He wipes out in a scatter of drawn spray and comes up on his back, at which point the character is reduced to two feet and one enormous grin lying along the waterline. A close-up then fills the screen with the face alone, nose, tongue and beads of sweat, the mouth doing all the work for a product sold on the mouth. Sky is airbrushed orange, sea and foam are flat colour with a loose white line, and the whole thing is shouted over surf music, "Nyt uusi bubbis purkkamaku!" [Now the new Bubbis gum flavour]. It ends with the surfer waving the chocolate brown pack up at the camera, drawn like everything else.
