Coldrex

Loose ink line on white, figures filled with flat colour and one strong note in the whole film, the yellow of a man's jumper against a green bedspread and a green floral curtain. He tucks someone into bed, fetches honey and a hot drink from the kitchen table, sits with an arm round her while she drinks, and wheels a television up to the foot of the bed, all of it in a shaky contour that keeps moving even when the figures are still. The perspective is deliberately flat, the bed close to an elevation, the television trolley drawn front on, which holds the whole thing at the level of a get well card. For a medicine advertisement it withholds a great deal, no symptoms and no science, and the voice-over puts the product fourth, after care, a good drink and rest, "joskus tarvitaan myös Coldrex" [sometimes you also need Coldrex]. Then it cuts hard from the drawing to a photographed pack on white, WINTHROP above and APTEEKISTA below, and the jump between the two surfaces is the whole pack shot.
