Sunnuntai, Pullapoika

Close food photography on a black ground, lit low and warm: sugared buns split along the top with jam, a tart of raspberries and blackcurrants set on white cream, a spatula dragging dark chocolate icing across a crumbed cake so the crumbs lift with it. The one piece of making in the film is a blackened baking tray carrying three figures modelled by hand out of rolled dough, a large one, a middle one and a small one, arms up and legs bent as if running, each face poked in with three holes so the mouths are open. Stepping them down in size turns the range into a family without a word being said about it. Then a wooden wall hung with pack fronts, ciabatta, brownies, pizza base and a row of pie and pastry doughs, each label carrying the same red rose and arranged in a grid so the whole range reads as one thing. A sung Finnish jingle runs the flavours past, 'mansikka, omena, vanilja' [strawberry, apple, vanilla], and closes on 'onhan sunnuntai, leipäpäivä tottakai' [it is Sunday, baking day of course], before the Raisio mark. Apart from the dough figures there is no animation in it.
